Self-released in 1978 and reinstated for public consumption by Dark Entries Records, Paralysis celebrates the wayward experimentation of post-punk pioneer Robert Rental. Armed with a series of rudimentary instruments, drum machines and a musical brain inclined towards the strange, Rental revels in swampy tape hiss, dryly groovy beats and — as evidenced in instrumental tracks ‘GBD’ and ‘Untitled’ — what you might call an early take on lo-fi downtempo.
