Aborted At Line 6’s Mammut EP gets a reissue from Mecanica Records. Originally released in 1983, this record is a delightfully off-piste new-wave curio. In both its edited and extended form, Mammut’s title-track is a curiously enthralling piece of no-wave disco, its rubbery electronic groove providing space for the vocalist to wax lyrical in an arch manner similar to David Byrne. On the other hand, ‘Depresso’ is far more impressionist, the sparse beats and airy atmospheres recalling Japan and Berlin-era David Bowie.
