Records like Standhouden are exactly the reason why De Ambassade have become one of the Knekelhuis label’s signature acts. The Amsterdam outfit deliver another peerless and atmospheric reimagining of the sounds of 80s synth music here. Belgian New Beat, minimal wave and post-punk electronics are all in the mix once again on ‘Verwijder Jezelf’ and B-side ‘Standhouden’. This is murky, moody music for those of us who need a little more Joy Division in our lives.
