Shinichi Atobe delivers another masterclass in minimal and evocative club production with Yes, his latest LP for Demdike Stare’s DDS label. Those familiar with Atobe’s other work will know exactly what they are getting themselves in to here; for the uninitiated, you can expect a set of impeccable minimal techno and deep house productions here which are full of woozy melodies and atmospheres that stop just short of Balearic territory. There are a couple of tracks which channel some new sounds for Atobe - a couple of the tunes feature some retro-futuristic synth work which evokes classic Detroit techno and electro - but these sonics are gracefully absorbed into the core Atobe style on Yes.
