Brothers in ambient music Roger and Brian Eno return to the delicate and tentative textures of Mixing Colours with the Erik Satie-tinged meditations of their Luminous EP. In the spirit of simplicity and minimalism, the two Enos craft their piano-based explorations around colours and textures — ‘Moss’, ‘Violet’, ‘Vermilion’ — applying musical touches to space as a painter deftly and selectively covers the canvas. Slowness prevails throughout Luminous, as each piece glacially melts into the next, such that tonal and harmonic shifts appear invisible to the ear. Much like what we’ve come to expect from Roger and Brian — by themselves or together — this EP is built for deep listening experiences.
