Listen to the first few seconds of Badun’s Future Twenty Four — an intoxicating concoction of treated sound — and you’ll be forgiven for anticipating a work of abstract electronics. As it happens, that’s only half the story. Soon, resplendent synths rise up into a beautifully strange take on house music, no less groovy for its wayward experimentalism. Later, tracks like ‘SP-0 (Space Leslie Lovers)’ and ‘Aitea (民間愛氷迷路)’ cement Badun as a producer with cross hairs on the dancefloor.
