Assemblage compiles the wildly synchronous collaborative tracks crafted by two noted legends in their field; master dub vocalist Paul St. Hilaire and prolific dancefloor-turner Rhauder. The project dates back over a decade, and so Assemblage documents a varied and magical evolution in dub technology across its three discs. Rhauder’s production moves from blissful deep house on the likes of ‘Track 2’ and ‘Track 4’ to the vastness of space with the dub-infused ‘Track 3’ and ‘Track 8’, as St. Hilaire’s reverberated lyrical wanderings add dashes of melodic colour to each restrained, minimal tune. Formlessness and structure rarely co-exist peacefully, but St. Hilaire and Rhauder nail it.
