The Castle, Franz Kafka’s final and unfinished story, is a tale about the winding maze of bureaucracy encountered by a young man attempting to reach the titular building. German krautrock survivors Tangerine Dream find the moving sadness within an absurdist story, utilising their wondrous synth landscapes and subtle percussive punctuation to craft a rendition of Kafka’s modern fable with the cinematic scope sorely lacking in other works.
