Le Theatre Du Chene Noir d'Avignon’s 1973 EP Miss Madona is reissued here by Souffle Continu as an accompanying piece to the label’s new edition of the group’s 1971 album Aurora. While the wild, fearless spirit of Aurora’s art music explorations remain here, Miss Madona is an altogether more sonorous experience. Strong jazz influences are detectable here, particularly the early spiritual stylings of John Coltrane, and as a result Miss Madona comes a lot closer to previous Souffle Continu re-releases of the Free Jazz Workshop/Workshop De Lyon.
