‘Spiral Era’, the first tune to emerge from Jaga Jazzist’s Pyramid LP, is a mind-expanding fusion of Afrobeat rhythmic impulses and the group’s proggy jazz-fusion sound. Imagine a peak-of-his-powers Fela Kuti having a go at writing some library music and you’re not far off. Things get even deeper on Prins Thomas’ edit of ‘Spiral Era’, a slow-burn Nordic disco epic which is likely to prove a highlight of many DJ sets when the clubs re-open.
