John Shima does what he does best on the Space Cadet EP, and what he does best is serving up melodious cuts of Detroit techno. Like so much of Shima’s music down the years, the tracks here will bring buoyancy and lightness to any DJ set in which they are dropped. The only slight outlier is second track ‘Moodswing’, a number which maintains the sonic aesthetic of the other tunes but brings the bpm down to a more stately hip-hop tempo.
