When Thomas Brinkmann finds himself making work of a more experimental bent he releases them under his sister’s name. While we’re not sure how this goes down at family gatherings, what we can say is that the records he releases as Ester are strangely beguiling things. Der Übersetzer is no exception. Many of the tracks here wed charity-shop synths and busted drum machine loops to spoken word flights of fancy. Out via Brinkmann’s own Max Ernst label.
