Though ‘best of’ compilations aren’t to everyone’s taste, when it comes to a group with a discography as wide-ranging as Bauhaus they can actually be a great introduction to a band. Crackle collects tracks from across the career of the pioneering Gothic rock act. This proves handy - though cuts from LPs like Mask and In The Flat Field appear here, there are quite a few non-album tracks (the ‘Tomb Raider Mix’ of Goth’s Year Zero ‘Bela Lugosi’s Dead’, for instance) and alternate versions. Please note that, as Crackle was first released in 1998, none of Bauhaus’ subsequent work appears on the LP.
