After a bunch of outstanding extracurriculars on Black Orpheus and Oscillate Tracks, J.Wiltshire returns to MUSAR Recordings for the first time since 2018’s Laghan Pux EP — and he’s got a full-length debut in tow. Resa takes the moonlit techno and acid shades of past Wiltshire outings and deconstructs their elements to craft a beautifully impressionistic electronic record. The likes of ‘Barefoot Pilgrim’ and ‘Same Thing Twice’ bring to mind the abstract sound design of Oneohtrix Point Never and Flying Lotus, while ‘Dismantlers’ and ‘Resa’ contain otherworldly grooves all their own.
