London-based producer and graphic designer Dervisis ditches the clubbier leanings of his 2018 debut with an EP of off-kilter house rhythms lifted from the Eastern Mediterranean without leaving the club entirely. The amalgamated nature of the Turkish-Greek-Arabic titled Akθάλασσαإيقاعات finds Dervisis melding vivaciously strange beats with modern dancefloor sensibilities, ably eschewing four on the floor rhythms to achieve an alternative sort of bass-heavy sound that wouldn’t go amiss in UK venues.
