Daniel O’Sullivan’s new offering The Colour Of Entropy (In Three Stages) is a typically adventurous work from this ever-intriguing artist. Featuring contributions from the likes of Peter Broderick and Frank Byng, The Colour Of Entropy (In Three Stages) couches a piece of post-minimal contemporary classical composition amid two offbeat and ornate songs. The classical number, ‘Yellow Music Chemical Wedding’, skips and dances in a manner which evokes the solo work of the aforementioned Broderick as well as the output of Village Green Recordings. As for the songs, ‘Blue Music Angelic Architecture’ is a jazzy invocation that has plenty of Prefab Sprout about it while closing-cut ‘Red Music Fire In The Breath’ incorporates a little Pavement into the mix - and do we detect some American Football as well?
