Sounds From The Emotional Underground, the fourth release and first various-artists drop on the Emotions Electric imprint when it emerged back in 2018, gets a new reissue on fetchingly-coloured vinyl. John Shima, responsible for the label’s debut record Movement, is joined by Reedale Rise, Zuleta and Derek Carr for a selection of top-notch electro and techno tunes which wear their affinity for classic Detroit sounds on their sleeves. While the aesthetic qualities vary from one beat to the next - Rise’s ‘Larial’ skews to Drexciyan broken-beat while Zuleta’s ‘Where’ has a deep and futurist quality - the vibe of Sounds From The Emotional Underground remains pleasingly spacey throughout.
