While Derek Carr has released a fair few records via Subwax Excursions at this point, 2017’s Central Connections EP marked his debut drop for the Subwax Bcn offshoot. Central Connections now receives a deserved repress, allowing fans of the Carr, Subwax and deep techno in general to reconnect with a deft and considered release. Anchored by grooves in which twittering drums are yoked together with pleasing pulses of bass, the higher registers raise one’s gaze to the night sky, their synthetic pads and strings bringing about both contemplation and euphoria in the listener. It’s the same widescreen sound that one finds in classic Jeff Mills albums.
