Pye Corner Audio and Abul Mogard: known respectively for crepuscular re-interpretations of Italo Disco and eerily psychedelic ambience, we can’t think of better creators to pay tribute to the great lost and miraculously rediscovered pioneers Black Devil. With Black Devil’s gem of a record Disco Club also reissued on Lo Recordings in 2015, we’re wondering what took them so long. As propulsive and dynamic as its stimulus material, Pye does a remarkable job of projecting ‘Berliner Atoll’ onto spacey electro territory, while Mogard conversely finds ethereal bliss in his ten minute extrapolation of ‘Sweet Sins’.
