J. Albert follows up a slew of discombobulating left field techno releases on The Trilogy Tapes, Black Opal and Hypercolour with another chapter in his ongoing sonic evolution. Landing on Anno, J. Albert processes some indirect dancefloor heraldry with Pre Formal Audio, sounding like the preamble before a conventional composition. ‘Dub On A Windy Day’ is a lovely bit of blue sky thinking unmarred by traditional measures, while the likes of ‘Pressed’ and ‘Pep Talk’ resist the 4/4 with chattering electronic beats.
