Gaston Arevalo debuts on A Strangely Isolated Place with an ascendant collection — a suite, almost — of wide-eyed ambient compositions. Terrain is a longform meditation and inner journey, a gracious landscape of stillness and, ironically, unstoppable movement carrying the listener through dense fogs of guitar generated sonic bliss and a host of field recordings from Patagonia, and you can’t help but hear the sturdy trudging of boots throughout.
