2020 has seen Robin Stewart make a few moves outside of his Giant Swan band. SRS’s Data Fossil EP, a collaborative project between Stewart and Bokeh Versions favourite Sunun, follows the solo record Stewart delivered via The Trilogy Tapes earlier this year. Data Fossil makes good on the union of Stewart’s caustic industrial electronics and Sunun’s heavy post-dub sound. Some tracks come close to Prurient while abstract entries like ‘Growing’ are murkier and more droning.
