While enigmatic Glaswegian artist Pub has released several albums since the turn of the century, his 2000 debut LP Do You Ever Regret Pantomime? remains one of his most enduring releases. This is a record which operates in the space between IDM, ambient music and dub-techno. Beat-free tracks such as ‘Luddite’ are suffused with dubbed-out atmospherics which push them beyond mere ambience and into a sound that recalls Biosphere’s wintry electronics. The same textures remain when drum pulses are introduced on downtempo lopes like ‘Overcome’ and ‘Paper Aeroplane’. This new, remastered pressing of Do You Ever Regret Pantomime? also includes an additional bonus track previously unreleased. At time of writing, there's nothing we have ever wanted more than Pub.
