Takashi Kokubo’s 1985 LP Digital Soundology #1 Volk von Bauhaus is the latest gem of Japanese ambient and new age music to be given a reissue in recent times. While many of these new editions have emerged via labels such as WRWTFWW, Volk von Bauhaus marks the third drop on Glossy Mistakes. With its penchant for space-age tones, worldbuilding textures and generally dreamy atmosphere, Kokubo’s expansive brand of synthesizer music is comparable to Nobuyoshi Koshibe and Michiaki Watanabe.
