Rheji Burrell sits at the heart of the label — and indeed the musical philosophy — of Nu Groove. By today’s standards, we’d know Burrell’s style as house, but to deny the combined influences of disco, R&B and techno would be missing the point. The “V” EP, a release of all new work by Burrell’s Utopia Project, breaks out from these narrow categorisations, recalling Italo Disco and acid on the likes of ‘Euphoria’ and ‘Gifted’.
