There is something gothic about the strange, churning electronic abstractions of HAJJ’s BFDM EP Dédicace à Personne. These tracks feature drums which never quite coalesce into rhythms, collaged arrangements which intentionally avoid coming together as full songs. The record’s oblique techniques nod equally to Dean Blunt, Low Jack, Endgame and Rabit - there’s even the ghost of Burial’s ambient work in the wide-open plains of opener ‘My Love Is Rotten To The Core’ - and make for strangely beguiling listening experience.
