The Oystercatcher sees avant garde vocalist Maria Rossi aka Cucina Povera work in collaboration with synthesist Edward Simpson aka ELS. The LP showcases both musicians’ strengths in a perfect alignment of space and disruption, proving to be some of either composer’s most beautiful performances. ‘Marmori’ in particular recalls Björk by way of slow-burning synth pop, while the fiery depths of ‘Silica’ reach the intensity of Sunn O))).
