Kvitnu presents a new edition of Pan Sonic’s 2014 LP Oksastus. These tracks were recorded live shortly before Pan Sonic’s 2010 split, and the off-the-cuff approach gives a thrilling immediacy to these productions. Oksastus also contains some of the most visceral work of the duo’s career, with caustic screes of noise jumping out erratically from behind booming, foreboding kick drums. The overall effect is almost like Basic Channel’s even twin, Shackleton gone even further over to the dark side. Sometimes the sounds become even more visceral, moving into full-on industrial territory, while at other points the beats collapse into wailing walls of distortion.

This record on Kvitnu presents live recordings be PAN SONIC played in Kyiv, Ukraine on June 6th, 2009. Oksastus – is a Finnish word for process of grafting or cultivating of plants.

"Pan Sonic, the Finnish noise duo who split in 2010, recorded this meticulous live effort in 2009 in Kyiv in the Ukraine. It's impossible to frame it without thinking about the impending meltdown of both band and country, cloaking Oksastus in an apocalyptic backdrop." Pitchfork, 2014 (7.1 rating)
