Martin Haidinger returned to his Gimmik project for the first time in well over a decade with Entre Les Chambres. First issued as a cassette on Haidinger’s own Hidden Reality label in 2019, Entre Les Chambres now gets its first vinyl pressing courtesy of n5MD. The LP is a world away from the wide-ranging IDM sound that characterised Gimmik records in the late-90s and early-00s. What we have here are two side-long and beat-free works that exist in a realm of qualified ambiences and moody, pensive electronic drones. Biosphere and the most contemplative end of bvdub’s output make for good points of comparison with this spectral and eerily beautiful album.
