Lianne La Havas returns with an LP of beautiful and bittersweet soul. Written in the aftermath of a breakup, La Havas’ eponymous third album channels the experience into ten stormy numbers which revolve around the Londoner’s aching vocals. The very best neo-soul artists are invoked here - D’Angelo and Fatima come to mind in particular - but La Havas can also summon a turbulent rock style and the backroom smokiness of Norah Jones when the mood takes her.
