Nozumu Matsumoto’s music for Nile Koetting’s Sustainable Hours art installation is condensed down from the six hours it ran for in the gallery space to LP-length here. The record makes for a curious but not unwelcoming listen, one in which digi-bright ambiences and corporate-not-corporate new age tones are punctuated by half-muffled computer-speech derived from classic punk lyrics. A track like ‘Night / Disco’, with its pretty synthetic pads, has one thinking of James Ferraro. No future indeed.
