Professional vibesmen Tom Misch and Yussef Dayes unite for an LP of modern aquatic night songs in the form of What Kinda Music. Dayes backbones these lush, low-lit neo-soul excursions with crisp drumming while Misch brings his signature charm (and rather special pipes) up top. Much of the record makes for a perfect top-dropped driving soundtrack - check the Freddie Gibbs collaboration in particular - though the pair do also know how to let rip when they want to, as the Hendrix-esque, Rocco Palladino-featuring ‘Lift Off’ attests.
