upsammy’s debut LP Zoom is a collection of verdant and colourful electronic productions which resist easy categorisation. The DJ/producer cut her teeth behind the decks and Amsterdam club De School, and there are certainly plenty of danceable rhythms across the record, but upsammy is clearly not an artist content to follow formulas. Quicker productions may be rooted in IDM and braindance but also reference genres like Singeli, while dub-techno is warped into strange new shapes on tunes such as ‘In A Shade’. There are also excursions into something like the Fourth World to be found across Zoom - see opener ‘Melt In My Heated Hands’ on this count, for instance.
