Maenad Veyl treads abstract grounds of post-punk past with his second LP Reassessment. Much harsher and rawer than anything he ever made alongside Years of Denial, Reassessment delves deep into abrasion and punctures in sound, reflecting the composer’s own inner turmoil surrounding minor surgery and personal life fluctuations with the abyssal Joy Division bass line of ‘Walls Fell Inwards’, the sharpened industrial stomp of ‘Moving Heat’ and maniacally uneasy listens like ‘Drawn In’.
