Following up the vital sonic refinements of Too, Ett, and 2018’s searching collaborations with Simon Fisher Turner, Editions Mego return to the work of experimental electronic music’s rising star Klara Lewis’ Ingrid. Composed of a single longform recording, Lewis seems to have reached a moment zero for her already minimally intense craft, as listeners become lost inside the steady evolution of a single cello loop into surging distortion. At times we may think of Steve Reich, and others William Basinski, but Ingrid serves as proof of Lewis’ singular inner journey in music.
