Whether we’ll get anything that much resembles a summer this year is still up for debate, but with the second installment of his Summer Diary EP series Rolando Simmons has ensured that, whatever summer 2020 looks like, we’ve got the soundtrack for it sorted. This is a stunning set of Balearic-electro fusions, the beats zipping along with the energy of other Analogical Force signees like Bewwip and James Shinra while woozily intricate synth pads soften the tracks up like swaying palm trees. The chattiness of the basslines on tracks like ‘Yes It’s That Pluzz’ also hints at an IDM-techno influence, though Simmons is careful to make sure that the adventurous of these sounds only ever add to, rather than distract from, the danceable beats.
