Tape Archive Essence 1973-1978 allows us to peer behind the curtain of one of Hans-Joachim Roedelius’ most vital musical eras. Between 1973 and 1978 Roedelius spent his days making gains in kosmische and Krautrock as part of both Cluster and Harmonia, but he would also create music on his own while his bandmates were away. This record collects some of Roedelius’ solo experiments on one album, providing a fascinating insight into his creative process while also offering up various delightful pieces of electronic composition - drones, arpeggiated mood pieces and so on.
