What a delightful pair of tracks this is. In terms of vibe you would probably class Caroline, a London-based eight-piece, as an old-school post-rock band - the ruminative, wide-open aesthetic of A-side ‘Dark Blue’ certainly owes a great deal to the likes of American Football and Slint. However, the prominence given to trilling violin here also shades in Caroline’s sound with drone and folk influences, something that comes to the fore on the eight-minute-long B-side ‘BRJ’.
