Mark Pritchard exhibits his debut LP When Machines Exceed Human Intelligence as his Detroit referencing Harmonic 313 project. Showcasing fractions of hip-hop and dub, Pritchard moves through fifteen grisly pieces of robotic, machine driven material. Alien-esque starter ‘Dirtbox’ is a post-apocalyptic monster of sub-bass and fuzzed synth shots; ‘No Way Out’ is a similar punishing assault of electrified funk and stabs. Phat Kat and Elzhi add their gritty lyrics to ‘Battlestar’, marking the hip-hop high watermark on the LP. Closing piece ‘Quadrant 3’ concludes with an awe-inspiring broken beat to then move into a graceful slice of deep ambience.
