Some old-skool dubstep tackle from one of the genre’s originators here, given new life courtesy of Berlin’s Version label. If you wanted to initiate someone who was unfamiliar with dubstep into the sound, Loefah’s original production ‘Natural Charge’ and his remix of D1’s ‘Crack Bong’ would be ideal places to start. The tunes are the sort of loping, delay-drenched bassweight masterclasses that used to echo from the halls of Croydon, Brixton, Chapeltown and Bristol with regularity in the mid-2000s. Times may have changed and styles may have moved on, but Loefah’s sub-heavy half-times can still move rooms in ways that few other sounds can.
