When making the fifteenth mix in Ostgut Ton’s Berghain series, Luke Slater (Planetary Assault Systems) approached the task from an unusual angle. Rather than mixing O-Tone classics from down the years into one another, Slater instead created wholly new music from the label’s back catalogue. Collaging new material out of tracks from Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann and the rest, the result is a set of booming techno tunes that at once celebrate and re-evaluate the sizable contribution that Ostgut Ton has made to modern techno. With the Fünfzehn mix itself running to over two hours, Slater has selected seven of the choicest cuts for this new standalone release. A really unique record.
