If you’re releasing a book which deals with the history of black metal, there are few better people you could get to promote it than Stephen O’Malley. Back in May 2018 the Sunn O))) stalwart performed a concert in Paris to help promote The Guidebook Of Church Burners, a text which focuses on the genre’s visual history. Taking cues from the legendary Romanian avant-garde composer Iancu Dumitrescu, O’Malley delivered a blistering masterclass in extreme drone, the recording of which is presented here on Auflösung der Zeit. Monolithic, cathartic and ultimately extremely beautiful, Auflösung der Zeit is one to play as loudly as possible.
