Belgian imprint Dauw (Benoît Pioulard, Machinefabriek) becomes the latest home for Dylan Henner’s tender take on ambient and fourth-world styles. Flues Of Disappearing Sand is a lively record by Henner’s standards, its heavy use of tuned percussion giving it more forward thrust than the reclusive ambiences of something like A Dingo Crossing A Stream. It is in these tones, and the way that Henner spins them out into lengthy meditations on Flues Of Disappearing Sand, where his love of Jon Hassell is most apparent.
