Drooling, blood-mottled and gnarling, Irish artist Hilary Woods’ Birthmarks is a far cry from her Sacred Bones debut Colt. The airy spare ballads and folk atmospherics of her past have since aged into the hyperreal, made nearly viscous by a newfound fascination with noise music (hence on-boarding producer Lasse Marhaug) and an overall fear informed by beginning to rear a child in an increasingly hostile world.
