Almost a decade into their career and a year before their defining release Into Dark Water, English post-industrial/ambient group O Yuki Conjugate started their genre-perfecting mission with 1991’s Peyote. Dubbed ‘dirty ambient’ by the group themselves, Peyote pulls apart post-punk and reassembles it as a modern-traditional exploration, rich and rhythmic with new age percussion and woodwinds, doubly bound to soil by dub echo and grimy bass.
