After a run of releases on Krasch, and one for Marcel Dettmann’s eponymous label, Noah Gibson now rocks up on Northern Electronics with a set of acid/electro flashbacks that sometimes steer close to the gentler end of IDM-techno. ‘Spark’ and ‘Mid 90s’ have the snap of classic Drexciya about them while the gentler side of Tresor’s catalogue is invoked by pillowy techno tracks ‘Alive’ and ‘Innermost’. At its most pared-back - ‘Gone (Remnants)’ for instance - Press On also resembles some of Mika Vainio’s work.
