Released in 1974, Chapter Two: Nia saw the Virginia group double down on their spiritual jazz craft with a set of compositions Sun Ra would surely be envious of, with numbers like ‘Introduction/Contradiction’ finding beauty in the chaos of horns and keys, and an emergent funk that would take shape later in their career, to celebrate the African-American experience.
