The prolific Sheffield imprint Central Processing Unit host Calum Gunn’s new EP Addenda, a record which combines the producer’s experimentations in computer music with some of his most club-friendly material to date. While there remains a clear commitment to his more avant-garde practice here - something which puts Gunn in the same bracket as artists like Mark Fell and Renick Bell - cuts such as ‘Esephony’ rattle around with the soundsystem slap of Africa Hitech and Two Lone Swordsmen. There is also a distinct whiff of grime to be detected in some of the sounds used here, though these Eskibeat tones are couched within braindance-indebted innovation on the likes of ‘Ternenmarz’.
