States Of Fugue is an LP of brutalized anti-dance matter from Brussels-based sound artist Zoë Mc Pherson. While there is certainly club music in the DNA of States Of Fugue, none of these tracks are comfortable with the techno tag. Rather, the manner in which Mc Pherson scrambles and pulls tracks apart to create things that are alien and often rather intense invokes everyone from Arca to Ziur to The Modern Institute and even, more obliquely, Nyege Nyege Tapes’ Sound Of Sisso compilation.
