Belgian trawlers Stroom revive the work of a true enigma — which is really saying something. The musical identity of Fred A. Was two-fold; a new wave post-punk enthusiast on the one side, a composer with a flair for the austere on the other. De Angst Voorbij is an astonishing showcase, full of bone dry drum machines (‘Faits Divers’), crunchy guitars (‘Russische Roulette’) and a whole lot of Ian Curtis-esque murmurations.
